A very quick update to day that my sourdough starter, Boblington Riley, is still alive. In fact very active indeed.
I've been feeding the starter every morning after I finish work. Every time there is a large froth on top and there is a strong smell of fermentation (smells very boozy) so I'm taking this as a good sign. See the picture below to see the activity going on in the bucket.
Currently at day 6 of the sourdough starter feeding process, according to my research I can begin using it to make a sourdough loaf after day 7 (tomorrow). I haven't decided yet but I may hold on until the weekend.
Next blog entry on The Sourdough Project will be about starting my first loaf.
